Men's Health 

It's important for all persons, including men to have an annual check-up to help in the prevention of heart disease and the other leading causes of death in men above. 

​

Symptoms of heart disease may include but not limited to, chest pain, chest tightness, chest pressure and chest discomfort (angina), Shortness of breath, pain, numbness, weakness or coldness in your legs or arms, if the blood vessels in those parts of your body are narrowed, pain in the neck, jaw, throat, upper abdomen or back, lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting (syncope) or near fainting.

You should seek emergency services (911) if you are having Chest pain, shortness of breath or fainting.

Complications of heart disease include, heart failure, heart attack, stroke, aneurysm, peripheral artery disease and sudden cardiac arrest.  You can prevent these complications by doing the following:

​

  • Quit smoking

  • Control other health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes

  • Exercise at least 30 minutes a day on most days of the week

  • Eat a diet that is low in salt and saturated fat

  • Maintain a healthy weight

  • Reduce and manage stress

  • Practice good hygiene

 

It's important to consider lifestyle changes and certain medications if indicated by your provider. If the latter are not successful in managing or treatment your provider may discuss medical procedures or surgery.  Take care of you and make an appointment with your provider today.
